Friday Finds

My boys are usually fabulous nappers.

Well, today was different.

Today they conspired against me.

So...I'm exhausted, and the end of my whits is very near...

This is gonna be short and sweet.

Love this, want to make it:

Love this, want someone to make it for me:

pedals and picnics

I love when my husband calls to tell me he's coming home from work early so we can go on a picnic.

The sun was shaded by the trees, the grass was soft and green, and the home made chicken salad was de-lish!

A little fresh air can go a long way after a long day.

It has a way of erasing all of our troubles and stresses...

And helping us remember what is most important...

(Is it just me, or does my 7 week old look like he's 3 months?)

Ande has been trying to learn how to pedal his bike, and tonight he got a little help from a new friend.
It's amazing how he seems to find a friend every where we go.

It's also amazing how he was able to walk around with that much sand in his shoes.

And now, after all that relaxing, I have to go do Insanity with Curtis...
even though I'm pretty sure I broke my shoulder trying to do push up jacks...or whatever.

maxi dress to midi skirt

So, I stole a dress from my sister's closet.
 (for the billionth time)

It was this jersey, orangey, maxi dress...

I know what you're thinking...the dress is cute, why cut it up?
I don't know.
I guess I just felt like it was too much orange.

So, I cut off the top...

Serged it...

And then sewed on an elastic waist band.

I now have a fun and flouncy midi skirt with just the right amount of orange...

Clothing refashions are fun.
I went to the thrift store today in search of something to transform into wearable apparel but nothing caught my eye.
I was also in search of some things that I need for the boys' Halloween costumes this year.
Yep, I have decided what they are going to be, but nope, I'm not telling!
All you need to know is that it's going to be great!

It is 10 o' clock and I am sitting here feeling all conflicted.
I am tired, exhausted even, but can I go to sleep? Nope.
Why? Because there is so much anticipation to be had.
Will Obo sleep through the night tonight?
Will he wake wake up in just a couple hours?
When he wakes up in the night, I feel like I have just barely closed my eyes and then suddenly it's time to get up again.
I really dislike that feeling.
That is why I don't want to go to sleep right now.
Luckily, Obo has slept from 7:30 pm to 6 am several times now.
It hasn't been totally consecutive, but he has done it 3 nights in a row now.
This is amazing considering he is only 7 weeks old, but I can't help but question whether it will happen again tonight.
So...the staying-awake-even-though-I'm-tired-and-droopy-eyed continues.
I'll just have to stare at these cute smiley cheeks until I can't anymore...

Over and out.

lacy ribbon belt

So, I made another ribbon belt.

These things are so easy to make. I used this tutorial that I posted a few months back.

This time, I added a little crochet lace to give it that extra somethin-somethin
(no I definitely did not make this lace! I'm not that good).

I think I have the beginnings of a belt obsession!

Oh yeah...Owen laughed this weekend...

Sunday Snapshots...Blessed

I'm feeling particularly blessed today.

We finally got to welcome baby Obo (that seems to be Owen's nickname...not sure how that came about) into our family by blessing him in Church.

I thought Curtis gave a wonderful blessing. Owen is one lucky boy.

Does anyone else see this? My Ande is workin these poses.
I'm in trouble!

I feel blessed to have these 3 boys to love and look after me.
I sure love those boys!
(even if I get grumpy and hole up in the bathroom for some alone time once in a while).

I also feel blessed for my wonderful family.
Thanks for all your help and for coming to enjoy this day with us!

There sure are a lot of handsome men in the family!

We sure did miss having Laurie, My Granny's and everyone from Curtis's family here!

But that's ok. We still love you.

I just love all of the faces in these pictures!

And thanks to my stand-in-sister Eve-a-licious for these great family pictures!

Lace Coffee Table

I am, and always will be, a fan of lace.

I just found this great idea for a lace patterned coffee table while browsing Pinterest.

Isn't that just lovely?

And now I am totally glad I found the blog who blogged this!
See for yourself:

Sunday Snapshots

Look at those cute little jowls...
Is that how you spell it?
Isn't that what you call those big droopy cheeks?

And look how cute he is all bundled up in this lovely 60 degree weather...
How do you like my hold-the-passy-in-the-mouth-contraption?
It works like a charm!
(And yes, that is Ande's beloved Teddy. How thoughtful of him.)

And look at this train we found at the mall!
A train ride through the mall makes 2 little cousin boys I know very happy!

How was your weekend?

Friday Finds: sidewalk art

To make playing outside a little more fun...

A great idea that I can't wait to try!

high waisted skirt

I love high waisted skirts.
They are perfect for accentuating the skinny parts and hiding the not-so-skinny parts.

I made this skirt and wore it this past Sunday to church.

I just had a rectangular piece of fabric and sewed the short edges together.
The length was about twice as much as my waist measurement (although I did absolutely no measuring when I made this because I'm a slacker).
I pinned it to a piece of elastic.
As I sewed the fabric to the elastic, I pulled the elastic tight so that the fabric would gather nicely.
I hemmed the bottom, and that was it!

My favorite style when it comes to high waisted skirts is usually the circle skirt because of the way it flows, but this one turned out quite nicely.
I love making skirts, I think I shall make some more!

1 month

Baby Owen is 1 whole month old now (and 2 days)!
Time sure does fly.
I still catch myself thinking that I am still pregnant sometimes.
When Ande goes to jump on my stomach, I yell "Watch out!" only to realize that there is no one in there anymore.

Well we are just loving baby O to death.
He is just precious, although he was none to happy about his 1 month photo op.

(notice the little matchbox motorcycle tucked into the H?)

Owen is cuddly, and sweet.
He only cries when we don't get the milk to him fast enough or when blasted with cold air as we change his diaper.
He is getting so big (because he eats like there is no tomorrow), I can't wait to see what he weighs at his appointment this week.

He makes the best faces, and that is something he gets from his big bro!
My favorite little quirk about this guy are his funny noises.
He grunts. A lot. It is hilarious.
He makes an "mmmmm" sound with every gulp of his milk like it is the best thing he has ever tasted (well...it is the best thing he has ever tasted, since it is the only thing he has ever tasted).
And he is just beginning to coo and make the cutest little noises when we talk to him.

He just started smiling and has really become alert to the world and people around him.
Did I mention he sleeps like a champ?
Well he does. He is, however, very partial to sleeping in our bed instead of his own.
He naps every day when Ande naps with a few extra snoozes on the side.
This little man can not seem to stay awake past 7:30 so we just started feeding him and putting him to bed by 8. He sleeps until 2:30 and does not wake up again until 6.
It is great.
It would be even greater if he would just cut out that middle feeding!

Curtis has finally stopped coming home for lunch everyday to help me get the kids down for naps.
I'm officially on my own.
Luckily, we seem to be settling into a routine.
Heaven knows I can not live without a routine.
Ande has really started to love on Owen and has become so helpful.
He is mostly back to his sweet, and silly self, who I adore.

I am still a little grumpy in the mornings, but am feeling much better about everything.
I have slowly started working on some projects again and will hopefully have them ready to share soon-ish.
Having 2 kids is certainly an adjustment, but we are glad to make it!
We love our new little buddy, Owen, and can't wait to watch him grow.

Sunday Snapshots...workin hard or hardly workin?

We worked hard this weekend...

Ande wore himself out rearranging the fridge...

Apparently Owen wore himself out too...being 1 month old is exhausting!

And Curtis and I actually did work really hard in our yard yesterday.
We have been planning to do a little landscaping in the front yard for a while now.
We were tired of pulling weeds, but neither of us are very dedicated when it comes to keeping up with yard work, gardens, flowers, etc.
We knew we needed something low maintenance.

So, we pulled out the four bushes...

Which left the area looking like this...

And after a lot of hard work, we ended up with this...

Of course, our little Ande is excited about the rocks. They are the perfect "heavy load" for his dump trucks!

And after all that hard work, we all needed a good night's sleep!

"Ande, can I sleep in your bed with you tonight?"

"HAHA, You must be crazy!"
